Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This treatment more effectively exfoliates than microdermabrasion. The exfoliation allows for cell renewal and also allows for better penetration of home and professional skincare products, optimizing their results. Dermaplaning is most often used on patients with rough, dry skin, superficial hyperpigmentation, mild acne scarring, or fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment results in a more refined, smooth, “glowing” appearance.
Dermaplaning can be used alone or in combination with other treatments. Combination treatments include facials, chemical peels, and deep pore cleansing.
For optimal results, a series of four to six procedures is recommended.
